Mrs Corbett's Guest Speaker Story Time Sessions:

Hola Everyone,

A huge thank you to everyone who tuned into Mrs Corbett's Story Time meetings this week - especially the Star Guest Speakers.

Thank you special guests:  Dylan W and Bunny, Tayla J, Lewis and Izzy  and Meila, Rosy and Chocolate, for sharing information about your pets and how you care for them

Mrs Corbett will be for the rest of this week,  working at Papakura Central School for the Teacher Only dayson Thursday (14th) and Friday (15th of May 2020), so there will be no more online story time meets with Mrs Corbett this week. 
Please continue to send through your photo's and activity work to Mrs Futcher from your Monday (11th of May 2020) to Wednesday (13th of May 2020) for your Story time sessions with Mrs Corbett. 

I want to extend a huge thank you to Mrs Corbett for all of her help, support, assistance, hard work and awesome learning activities that she provided in the live sessions over this lock down period. We are very lucky to have you support and working with us Mrs Corbett :) We all look forward to seeing you at Papakura Central School and in Room 19 next week for Level 2. 

Please note that Mrs Futcher will still be having her morning meeting this Thursday and Friday from 9 am.

Day 18 of Distance Learning

Kia Ora Students, Parents/Caregivers and Whanau,

What a great first day back for me (Mrs Futcher) at Papakura Central School. I hope you all had a fantastic day at home doing your distance learning for day 18.

Thank you to those who managed to join us today at 11.15 am. I think it was our best session yet. It was also great to see all the parents who made it too :)

Bailey and I had fun starting our Covid-19 Time Capsule Project. Each day we are going to do a few pages, as well as the "All about our Family journal:

Room 19's Lighthouse Models and Drawings

Mrs Corbett's session on Light House's was a big success. It was wonderful to see some of your Light House models and drawings that you sent in, so we decided to showcase the one's we have received so far here.....

And the Light House was......

Congratulations to those children who figured out the answer to Mrs Corbett's question: "What is the name of the lighthouse that is closest to Papakura?"

And the answer is:


Manukau Heads Lighthouse

Mrs Corbett Said: "Well done finding out that Manukau Heads Lighthouse is the closest Lighthouse we can visit from Papakura! I am looking forward to seeing your Lighthouse Pictures and/or Models."

Day 12 of Distance Learning:

Kia Ora Students, Parents/Caregivers and Whanau,

We have done it! Survived another week and day 12 of distance learning. Well done to all of you - parents/caregivers, students and whanau, i'm been so impressed and proud of the quality of work you have all been undertaking.

This week we read the big book Monster's Lunch and after doing big book activities all week, we ended our Friday with a Monster Dress up morning meets session. We had princesses, Batman, A pirate, Skelinator, a bird and a Monster Teacher. Parents: Could you please send in your costume photos to my email address so I can post them on this blog please?

Here is Mrs Corbett's ANZAC Ted who joined Mrs Corbett in her 11 am sessions this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He is wearing his awesome medals and poppy made by Mrs Corbett. I hope next week you will join Mrs Corbett in her 11 am meetings next Monday to Friday. 



Thank you so much Mrs Corbett for organising and running this awesome creative session for the children of 18, 19 and 20. We are extremely lucky to have you and your many years of expertise and experience at Papakura Central School and online for our distance home learners :)

Great words and drawing Agampreet, everyday you excel at making sure you are covering all the aspects of the curriculum, as well as Mathematics, which I know is your favourite. Amazing job my friend, keep up the stellar work :)

And last but not least....

Here is Sophia's learning today, which includes making a cool Monster puppet, dressing up as a princess, colouring by numbers and literacy: 






Sophia I'm so impressed with all your effort and creative learning, especially since I know you are missing school. Wicked work my friend, keep up the excellent effort and hard work :)

My children and I played game of life today after all the hard work of the week. It was nice to relax and have some fun, as well as learning Mathematics, Literacy and Role Playing with the Game of Life Board Game. 



I hope whatever you ended up doing this week and today, it was fun and enjoyable. Quality time spent with your family is the most important thing right now, especially with all the craziness an challenges going on out in the world. Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend everyone. Enjoy your time at home, safe in your bubble.
