Math Statistics

In Maths today we were learning about making graphs. We shared our most favourite ice cream in Room 19. Chocolate ice cream is the most favourite. 9 children like it. 5 children like rainbow ice cream. 4 children like Goody Gum Drops.

We also make a picture graph of the eye colours in Room 19. Most of the children have brown eyes and only 3 children have blue eyes. Our teacher for today, Miss Haerewa was the only one with hazel eyes.

Kia Ora Parents/Caregivers/Guardians, Students and Whanau,

Bitmoji Image

This is just a friendly reminder that if we stay in level 1 this week, the family, food and fun night will go ahead on Thursday the 25th of February (this week).

Come along with a family picnic or buy food at Papakura Central School and meet up with your Childs/children's teacher (Me!).

There will be swimming in the school pool, fun on the bike track - bring your own scooter or bike, or borrow one of the schools and other fun events.

I am looking forward to seeing you all. Until then take care and be safe.

Update: Please note - this event has now been cancelled - I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

regards

Here is the link to our Virtual Literacy Classroom: Mrs Futcher's Virtual Literacy Classroom

When you click this link, you will be taken directly to a set of google slides. When you click on the activities inside the "classroom" (such as the laptop, books or pictures), you will see links to different learning tasks, pop up which you can click on. On the bookshelves are some assorted instructional texts to listen to and read together. I have added some images below to give you an idea of how the links work, but to access the slides you will have to click on the link above. Please make sure you are in Google Chrome.

This classroom does work best on iPads, Laptops, Desktops, and Chrome Books, but they will also work on android and apple phones.

Class Dojo and Morning Meetings

Kia Ora Parent's/Caregiver's/Guardian's, Students and Whānau,

learning from home

Thank you for signing up for Classroom Dojo, downloading the app and being so awesome/helpful in our transition to Class Dojo.

Please find the link below to access our class feed. You will be able to create a parent account via the invite I sent to your email address and see our class stories.

The best part of Class Dojo is that it gives the children ownership over their own learning. We encourage you to look at adding things to the children's portfolio. It's a great resource for them to look back on over the year.

Thank you also to those students and parents who joined us this morning for our first distance learning morning meet. If you would like to join us tomorrow, the link is:

I'm looking forward to seeing you all soon. Take care, stay safe and have fun learning!

Book Bags, Stationary and Family Fun Night

 Kia Ora Parents/Guardians and Whānau,

I hope you all enjoyed the first week back at school, as much as I did. I am delighted to be your child's/children's teacher and it was lovely getting to know your child/children.  I am looking forward to meeting all of you on Thursday the 18th of February 2021 at the Papakura Central Family Food and Fun night.

dont forget

Just a friendly reminded, could you all please make sure that your child's/children's stationary is into me as soon as possible and that he/she has a book bag for school starting this week, so we can begin guided reading at home and in the class.

Room 19's class swimming is every day except Thursday's in the school's heated swimming pool. This activity is part of the School Curriculum, so could you please send me a note if your child is not swimming for any reason.

Please also make sure that your child's/children's name is on their school uniforms, togs, towels, hats, shoes and any other items, as there was a little confusion this week when some students were getting changed as to what items belonged to whom. Lastly every child needs to have a hat for Term 1, as the sun is very damaging, even on a overcast and cloudy day. In Term 1 and Term 4 this is Papakura Central School stipulation.

Have a great Valentines Day (and rest of the weekend) and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning for the start of week 2.
